GOVAN takes its IEC Ex Certification and goes ATEX".

GOVAN has already taken actions in updating its product range certification to the internationally accepted IEC Ex certification scheme.

In further moving into new markets it has been found that some countries not having a regulated Ex scheme, ATEX is being requested in hazardous project specifications.

What is ATEX ?

ATEX is the term used for the European Union’s Directive 94/9/EC which concerns equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The purpose of the Directive is to facilitate trade within the EU by aligning the laws of Member States regarding safety for the hazardous area products.

CE marking of products to the ATEX directive is not a mark of certification or approval issued by a third party.

It simply indicates a product’s conformity with the `essential safety requirements ` of the EU directives.

In the ATEX requirement being specified did not deterred GOVAN in these markets.

In having achieved the higher International regime of IEC Ex Certification, it was a simple paper exercise in complying with ATEX and being issued with CE marking for our products.

GOVAN currently have ten of its product range both IEC Ex and ATEX, with our remaining products achieving IEC certification they will also comply to ATEX .
